A. Personal Qualifications:

  1. A born again, growing, disciple of Jesus Christ. Demonstrating a good degree of spiritual maturity and commitment to Local Church ministry.
  2. Agreement with doctrinal statement of CVBC.
  3. Strong Bible background and knowledge. Although not absolutely necessary, a Degree with special training in Bible, Christian Education or Youth Ministry is preferred.
  4. Spiritual gift of administration. Ability to motivate self, formulate goals and take the necessary steps to carry them out.
  5. A man of integrity and solid character. (i.e., 1 Timothy 3:1-7)
  6. A personality that can relate to 7th - 12th grade young people. Good rapport with youth. Proven ability to take the lead in establishing personal relationships with youth.
  7. Ability to sing and lead music.

B. Primary Ministry Responsibility:

TO PLAN AND OVERSEE THE OVERALL CURRICULUM AND PROGRAM FOR OUR MINISTRY TO 7TH - 12TH GRADE YOUTH.
Specific duties would be:
  1. To oversee and give guidance to the YOUTH STAFF. To develop the CVBC MINISTRY TEAM to Youth (recruiting and training leadership, building up current youth staff).
  2. To be involved in "HANDS ON" MINISTRY to Youth in the following areas: Leading Bible Studies, Scheduling special activities, Involvement in youth Sunday School program, Accompanying Youth to Camps, etc.
  3. To develop MISSIONS/OUTREACH OPPORTUNITIES. The first priority will be to develop ongoing opportunities for the youth to minister to our local community. The goal here is to train teens to first minister to the spiritual needs in their own community before going to some far off place. Short term mission trips will also be planned. However the first qualification for a teen to serve on a mission team will be involvement in a local outreach ministry.
  4. To develop a PRAYER TEAM to intercede for the needs of Youth.
  5. To INTEGRATE THE YOUTH into the overall ministries of CVBC.
  6. To BECOME AQUAINTED WITH AND MINISTER TO THE FAMILIES of the Youth.
  7. To ACTIVELY UPHOLD MORAL STANDARDS among the Youth which reflect the holiness of God. (i.e.. in dating relationships, sexual purity, social activities, movies, profanity, music, literature, etc.)
  8. To serve as a MISSIONARY TO UNSAVED YOUTH in this community.
  9. To assist Pastor Andy in ministry to the congregation as a whole in the following areas: SMALL GROUP MINISTRY, ADMINISTRATION, WORSHIP MUSIC CO-ORDINATOR.

C. Secondary Ministries:

(to carry out as the Lord leads and time allows.)
  1. To help the Youth Groups develop fund raisers to cover the costs of special activities. (Give emphasis to training Youth to earn/raise their own funds as much as possible)
  2. To provide counseling, or referrals for counseling for youth and their families struggling with specific problems.
  3. To identify with the Youth on their own turf (i.e.. attend sporting events, one on one meetings, etc.)
  4. To collaborate with other like-minded area churches on ministry to Youth.
  5. To be involved in the small group ministry of the Church.
  6. To provide occasional pulpit supply.
