Ministry Overview: The Director of Music ministry will demonstrate a
strong commitment to Jesus Christ while developing and implementing
a music ministry that glorifies and enhances the worship of God
and the whole ministry of the church.
The Music Director, while answerable to the Personnel Committee, is
accountable to the Teaching Elder on a day-to-day basis. Issues,
questions, problems, and worship planning will be discussed and
resolved with the Teaching Elder's input. It is imperative that
the Music Director plays an integral part of the weekly staff
meeting for coordination purposes. Currently this is a part-time
position (estimated at twenty hours per week).
Ministry Responsibilities
Overall responsibility for the music ministry of the church, including the following:
- Plan and lead music for all weekly corporate worship services
- Plan and coordinate vocal and instrumental music arrangements
- Recruit, rehearse and shepherd choral and instrumental praise
teams; foster among music participants an attitude of continued
growth in learning about and carrying out corporate praise music.
- Participate in weekly staff meetings. Meet with teaching
elder and other staff members to coordinate seasonal worship services
and events
- Formulate an annual budget to meet the needs of the music program. Oversee all purchases related to the music, supplies, and equipment. Oversee the use of the sound system, instruments, and other equipment used in the music program.
- Oversee the weekly task of developing slides to coordinate
with music and message theme or topic. Maintain database of
songs as well as hard copy music files. Oversee and coordinate
volunteers who operate the computer for congregational singing
and praise time.
- Participate in and encourage music ministry outreach to the
community and other like minded churches
- Maintain a spiritual freshness in my personal walk with God
that reflects Him in the music ministry as well as other areas
of Chippewa Valley Bible Church.
Knowledge & Skills Required:
- Commitment to and walk with Jesus Christ
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to resolve any conflict in a manner that is honoring to God
- Effective planning and organizational skills
- Familiarity with contemporary worship music
- Ability to change the key of songs to make them more
singable by average people in the congregation would be very
helpful
