CVBC Missionary: Jim Walton

Wycliffe Bible Translators | Dallas, TX

Able to devote more time to aiding Colombian national missionaries, Edgar & Clementina Buenaventura, and re-involvement with the Muinane and translation.

Jim & Janice Walton served with Wycliffe Bible Translators, translating the NT and other materials for the Muinane Indians.               Jim became the Director of Wycliffe’s work in Colombia,  and later they were assigned to work with the Graduate Institute of Applied Linguistics (GIAL) in Dallas, TX. When Janice’s cancer returned, Jim retired from ‘active service’ to care for Jan until her death,  while continuing to assist the Buenaventuras in their ministry to the Achagua (and other indigenous peoples in Colombia) from his home office. He has now had a reignited interest and involvement in further translation for the Muinane people (specifically the OT book of Proverbs). Jim continues his membership with Wycliffe and hopes to continue to volunteer and minister with and to others as they co-labor in the gospel.

PRAYER REQUESTS:

1. For my continued adjustment to life alone, that I will rest in God’s promises and in all things have the mind of Christ.

2. Capability to translate and communicate between ministry partners of Colombian national missionaries, Edgar and Clementina Buenenaventura, regarding accomplishments and ministry endeavors, as well as their personal and ministry needs.

3. Facility to maintain and broaden contacts with individuals from the Muinane tribal group with which we lived and worked in Colombia.

4. Ability to continue initial consultant check of Muinane Proverbs as translated drafts of the remaining chapters become available.

5. Skill as I begin revision of chapters as responses to questions and problems from initial consultant check are received back from Colombia.
