The New Heavens and the New Earth
Isaiah 63:8– 66:24

Main Point: God will create a New Heavens and New Earth and it will be a place of _______________ __________________.

4 Reasons why the New Heavens and New Earth will be enjoyable:

  1. In the N.H. and N.E. all things that sought to rob us from the joy of God will pass away.

  2. In the N.H. and N.E. everything we do, see, and experience will be perfectly enjoyable.

  3. In the N.H. and N.E. there will be nothing but a joyful harmony and peace.

  4. In the N.H. and N.E. we will fully enjoy God and fully feel the joy God has for us.

Small group questions:

  • What is something that stood out to you from the passage or sermon?

  • What are some of the things listed in Isaiah 65:17-25 that prevent the people of God from fully experiencing a joyful life in God? (ex: weeping, distress, etc.)

  • The primary activity in eternity will be rejoicing in God. Does that honestly excite you? What do you imagine that to look like?

  • What are some take-aways from our study of Isaiah?

Back of Bulletin: Missionary Highlight

John and Lucia Schone

Grace AfterCare Ministry

Eau Claire, WI

As John Schone walked the streets of Japan as a U.S. Navy serviceman on patrol following World War II, the Lord placed the people on his heart, and gave him an earnest desire to share with them the gospel of Jesus Christ.

After returning to the U.S., he met Lucia while working at a Christian camp, and they married the following year.  In 1950 they began their missionary service with TEAM (The Evangelical Alliance Mission), where for 25 of their 38 years in Japan they directed the Matsubarako Bible Camp ministry.

They “retired” and returned to the U.S. in 1988.  Six years later, after serving on a chaplain’s counsel for a jail ministry program, John began ministering as a visiting chaplain in the Eau Claire County Jail and other state and federal facilities in Wisconsin and beyond.

Now, at age 97, after 23½ years of ministering to the incarcerated and mentoring those who have been released, because of health issues John is no longer able to be actively involved in this ministry. But he and Lucia (now 94) remain diligent prayer warriors for this and other Christian ministries.  Lucia, also ministry-oriented, has for many years provided mentoring for women and served the Chippewa Valley as a member of the APPLE and ALS Support Group boards.

PRAYER REQUESTS:

1. Pray that the churches and communities will help build relationships with men and women who are released from the correctional system.

2. Pray that those who are being mentored will respond to the Lord’s working in their lives.

3. Pray that the Schones may continue to maintain good spiritual and physical health.
