What’s Happening at CVBC

  • Are you able to share some encouragement? All those at Comforts of Home Assisted Living are in quarantine again and they’ve asked for our prayers. You can write a note in a card for a resident/staff member of C.O.H. today. We have cards out at the nursery counter and will be delivering them early this week.

  • Sunday School is starting January 17 for 4K through High School!  Donuts and juice will be provided in the classrooms (4K-5th grade). Registration is still open: go to our CVBC website under Children’s Ministry. Middle & high school students don’t need to register.

  • Bible Reading Plans: We want to encourage you to plan for 2021 to be a year where you read and marinate in Scripture. To help you do this, we have a few suggested Bible Reading Plans for you, available in the foyer at the Ministry Table.

  • Check your church mailboxes for 2021 wall calendars and anything else from the past year. Come in during the week if that works better for you. PLEASE LET US KNOW if you no longer want/need a church mailbox. office@cvbc.net or 715-723-2872.

  • FREEDOM Recovery meets 3x weekly: Tues.-1pm, Thurs.-7pm, and Sat.-8am. We use the Life Recovery Bible 12-Step Program. Join us! Contact Jerry at (715) 379-0200 or email gsolfest@gmail.com.

SERMON: The Heart of the Matter

Mark 7:1-23

Main Point: The Lord wants your HEART. For from the heart,  EVERYTHING in your life flows. So, does He have it?

3 Truths about the heart from this passage:

  1. If your OUTSIDE is clean but your HEART is not, then you cannot truly obey.

  2. SIN is simply the overflow of what is in your heart.

  3. TRUE OBEDIENCE to God is simply the overflow of what is in your heart.

Small Group Questions:

  • What is something that stood out to you from this passage or sermon?

  • What is the problem with the Pharisees in this passage? Is this passage convicting to you at all? How so?

  • How do you cultivate your heart for God?
