What’s Happening at CVBC
· There is no BLAST on October 30. See you November 6.
· Today is the last day for Christmas for Missionaries. You can sign a card for each one (even if you don’t know them!). Look for the table in the lobby. You can also give them a gift of money by dropping a check in the offering box (memo: Missionary Christmas) or use the QR to give online (choose Missionary Christmas).
· All Seniors (55+) are invited to sign up for our Harvest Dinner that will take place on Thursday, November 21 at 11:30am. Sign up in the lobby or online.
· Our next Men’s Event is a teaching night on Monday, November 4 at 6pm at CVBC. All men are welcome; supper is included.
· Adult Sunday School returns next week, November 3, with a three-week series: Delighting in the Trinity. Join us in room 50 at 9:00am as we learn why this ancient Christian teaching is foundational, instructive, practical, and, well, delightful! We will explore what the Bible has to say about this topic, and will also learn about some of the important historical figures who have helped defend and preserve this great mystery of our faith.
· Ladies Bible Studies:
Monday at 9:00am, Monday at 6:30pm, Tuesday at 9:30am, Tuesday Morning Moms at 9:30am (childcare provided).
· Men’s Bible Studies:
Monday at 6:30pm, Tuesday at 7:00am, Tuesday at 6:30pm, 1st/3rd Saturday at 7:30am.
· Attention Musicians: Have you ever thought about being part of the Music Ministry at CVBC? We are seeking additional instrumentalists, drummers, and vocalists to praise God together on our Sunday morning worship teams. If interested, contact Jaki at cvbc.jaki@gmail.com.
Matthew 6:19-34
Main point: What we treasure most will either cause anxiety and stress or it will be the source of peace and contentment. Where is your treasure?
Worldly treasures become sinful when they ultimately control the trajectory of your life.
Living with Jesus Christ as your treasure ultimately brings contentment and peace so you are free to live your life.
Small group questions:
1. What stood out to you from the passage or sermon?
2. Has there been a time you recognized you made something else your treasure other than Jesus and his promises? How did you recognize this?
3. How do we be good stewards in this world with the things God has given us (money, homes, jobs, etc.) and love others well without making these things our ultimate treasure?
BACK OF BULLETIN: CVBC Missions & Outreach
If you are a Christian, then missions/outreach is your calling! Jesus has called us to go and make disciples of all nations and has entrusted this to churches like ours. At CVBC, we seek to proclaim the message of Jesus to those near and far.
Missions:
· Stay Updated: We currently support 17 missionaries globally. These missionaries serve from Minneapolis to the Middle East. Our CVBC missions committee stays informed of all the updates and needs of our missionaries. You can receive these updates and information in two ways:
* Read the personal letters at the Missions wall in the lobby.
* Join the missions e-mail group by texting CVBC to 84576 and choose the cvbc-missions group from the list.
· Pray: Pray for the lost in your life and all of the requests from our missionaries! The Lord loves to hear the prayers for salvation for those near and far.
· Give: By giving regularly to CVBC, you are giving directly to these 17 missionaries and their ministries around the world!
Outreach ministries:
· Ruby’s Pantry Food Distribution (3rd Tuesday of each month)
Food (for a nominal donation) distributed to the community from 2:30-5:30pm; volunteers are welcome/needed from 11:30am-6pm.
· We support and are involved with Good News Global (Chippewa Falls) and APPLE Pregnancy Care Center (Eau Claire).
· We are involved with Hope Village (Tiny Homes, Chippewa Falls) and Hope Gospel Mission (Eau Claire).
